Why do I need a Commercial Services Parking Permit?
Wilmington City Council passed Substitute No. 2 to Ordinance No. 14-005 "An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 37 of the Wilmington City Code to Establish a 'Commercial Services Parking Permit'" which shall be issued by the City of Wilmington to a business, company or corporation that performs commercial services in the City. This Ordinance amends City Code §37-251.
Where will the permit allow me to park?
Vehicles that have been issued a Commercial Services Parking Permit will be authorized to park in any legal space in the City and be exempt from Limited Time Parking Regulations only. Vehicles displaying a valid Commercial Services Parking Permit will be permitted to park in loading zones for a maximum of two hours. The permit is not valid at parking meters. If you choose to park at a meter, money must be deposited and the maximum posted limited time regulations must be observed.
How many Commercial Services Parking Permit may I obtain?
There is currently no limit on the number of permits a company may obtain. One application must be completed per vehicle. If all vehicles are registered to the same entity, a list of vehicles may be attached to the application. The permit fee applies to each vehicle for which an application is submitted.
What if I apply for a Commercial Services Parking Permit mid-year? Will I be required to pay the total annual fee of $250 per vehicle?
The permit fees are prorated based on the month of application.
How will I know when my permit has been approved?
If you permit is approved, you will be contacted via the information on your application. If your application is denied, you will be contacted via the information on your application and you will be given three business days to rectify the deficiency at which point we can proceed with processing your application. After three business days, you will be sent a letter indicating why your application was denied and a contact number to call for details.
When will my Commercial Services Parking Permit expire?
All Commercial Services Parking Permits will expire at the end of the calendar year, in order to coincide with the expiration of the City Business Licenses.
Where do I place the parking permit?
Place the permit on the right rear bumper or the lower right rear window. These two locations are the only accepted areas for placement.
The application indicates that all outstanding debt must be paid prior to applying for a permit. What are examples of outstanding debt?
