Wilmington Mayor James M. Baker, Parks and Recreation Director Romain Alexander and Delaware Center for Horticulture (DCH) Executive Director Pam Sapko invite citizens to attend a free public forum to hear and discuss the results of a new study about the numerous ways that Wilmington’s public parks benefit the community. Citizens are also invited to join in a discussion at the Parks Forum and offer their ideas about the future of the city’s park system.

The Wilmington City Parks Forum will be held on Tuesday, September 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Blue Ball Barn in Alapocas Run State Park (1914 West Park Drive, Wilmington, DE 19803).

The recently completed study was conducted by the Trust for Public Land – Center for City Park Excellence, and is expected to become an important planning tool for park improvements in Wilmington. The report is based on techniques that have been used in other U.S. cities to measure the environmental, recreational, public health, property value, tourism, and social benefits of parks. read more
