Loretta Walsh, newly elected as an At-Large Council Member, brings with her a wealth of experience in government and as a former member of City Council.
She is presently working full-time in the New Castle County Sheriff’s Office as Chief Deputy, a position she has held since 1981. She served on Wilmington City Council from 1985-1997. Previous employment was with the Delaware Council on Crime and Justice as an Agency Rep. from 1979 to 1980, the Delaware State Senate staff from 1977 to 1979, and the New Castle County Sheriff’s Office as an Executive Assistant from 1975-77.
Current Boards and Memberships are: St. Patrick’s Day Society, Opportunity Center Fashion Show Committee, Women’s Democratic Club, American Association of University Women, Delaware Domestic Violence Coalition, 8th City Council District Ward Chair and Little Italy Neighborhood Association.
She is single, has one child, two grandchildren and is a foster mother.
