News from the City of Wilmington
For Immediate Release
Wednesday, July 1, 2009
Wilmington Mayor James M. Baker announced today the summer schedule for the City’s public swimming pools. The City of Wilmington Department of Parks and Recreation operates five public swimming pools. The pools are now open through August 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (public swim hours). Refer to the schedule below for locations and days the pools are closed.
The pools are staffed by Red Cross-certified lifeguards, and feature changing facilities and showers. There is no cost to use the pools during public swim hours. While the pools are open to everyone, patrons under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
“Our city pools provide welcome relief from the summer heat for thousands of residents every year,” said Mayor Baker. “In fact, visiting our pools is a cherished summer tradition across the entire City. Thanks to our Parks and Recreation Staff, we are able to provide children and adults with a safe, free way to keep cool.”
