On Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Wilmington Police responded to the Wilmington hospital in regards to a gunshot victim. There, officers found a 28 year old New Castle man suffering from a single gunshot wound to his left leg. The victim said he was shot “somewhere in Wilmington” during a robbery, but could not offer any details. The evidence unit along with detectives interviewed the victim along with several possible witnesses and the case was being considered a self inflicted.
Today, January 3, 2008 at 6:00 a.m., detectives, after determining that the victim did cause his wound, arrested 28-year-old Wendell Moore of the 900 block of Moores Lane in New Castle and charged him with Possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, Falsely reporting an incident, and Possession of marijuana. Moore was transported to Young Prison for lack of $12,000.00 cash bail.
