On Saturday, January 12, 2008 at approximately 10:55 a.m., Wilmington Police responded to the area of “A” and S. Heald Streets in regards to a shots fired complaint. There officers located a 22 year old victim from New Castle suffering from a single gunshot wound to his lower back. The victim says he was approached by an unknown subject who asked for money. A physical confrontation broke out between the victim and the suspect. While the fight was going on, a second subject arrived and hit the victim on the head with what appeared to be a handgun. The victim tried to get up and run but he was shot once in the back. He was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he underwent surgery. He was listed in critical condition.
The investigation is on-going.

This morning, January 15, 2008 Wilmington detectives conducted a search warrant in the 600 block of Townsend Street. Arrested was a 17 year old resident of that block. He was charged with Attempted murder 1st, Attempted Robbery 1st, Assault 2nd, Conspiracy 1st and related weapons charges.
He was transported to the New Castle Juvenile Detention Facility for lack of $510,000.00 bail.
