Well Known Burglar / Thief Wanted Again

Wilmington Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a robbery suspect. Wilmington Police are notifying the public that a well known thief is out of prison and right back into his criminal ways. Forty-nine year old William McNair, also known as Willie McNair and Arthur Butler, was just released from prison on January 9, 2008 and already has a warrant issued for his arrest for Robbery 2nd Degree. Police say that McNair broke into several cars in the 200 Blk of W. 12th Street on Thursday, January 17th, 2008 and fought with the security guard that attempted to stop him. McNair is also a suspect in a criminal mischief and theft today, Friday, January 18, 2008 in the same downtown garage. Willie McNair has an extensive criminal history consisting of 178 criminal charges and 82 prior arrests. McNair has been convicted of 78 of those charges.

He was last arrested on September 15, 2007 for a criminal mischief and a theft in the 900 blk. of Shipley Street. He has been in prison ever since.

According to state records, McNair is considered to be a career criminal candidate as defined in Delaware State Code Title 11 SS4214.

McNair is known to center most of his criminal activity to the Christiana Riverfront area north to the Brandywine River and Adams Street to Walnut Street.
