Last night, Wednesday February 17, 2010 at approximately 8:42 p.m., Wilmington Police were dispatched to the 400 block of S. Heald Street in regards to a shooting investigation. There, officers located a 20 year old New Castle man suffering from a single gunshot wound to his left thigh. The victim says that he was walking in the 500 block of Townsend Street when he heard several shots being fired. While running from the shots, the victim realized that he was shot in the leg. He eventually collapsed in the 400 block of S. Heald Street. The victim was unable to give any description of a suspect(s). He was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was last being treated for the wound and was listed in good condition.
There is no suspect information available at this time.
The investigation is continuing.
