Yesterday afternoon (Thursday, February 25, 2010) at approximately 3:15 p.m., Wilmington Police were dispatched to the area of 23rd & Market Streets in regards to a shooting investigation. There, officers located a 27 year old New Castle man lying on the sidewalk suffering from a single gunshot wound to his abdominal area. The victim says that he was walking in the area when he heard gunshots. He realized that he had been shot and attempted to run but collapsed on the sidewalk. The victim was not able to provide any suspect information to investigators.
The victim was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was in stable condition.
The investigation is continuing.
