Today, January 14, 2010 at approximately 1:12 p.m., Wilmington’s Police responded to the intersection of 19th & N. Market Streets in regards to a Dart bus accident. There, officers observed a full size Dart bus at the designated bus stop in the 1900 block of N. Market on the west side of the street on the southbound lane. Another vehicle, a 2004 Toyota Corolla was parked against the curb in front of the bus. The investigation revealed that the bus had pulled into the designated bus stop at 19th & Market Streets when the Corolla that was following it, attempted to go around the rear. While making the maneuver, the Corolla lightly scraped the right rear rubber bumper of the bus, causing a paint transfer on the bumper and minor damage to the right front fender of the car. 14 passengers of the bus claimed injury and were transferred to area hospitals. There were no apparent serious injuries. The driver of the bus and car were uninjured. 25-year-old Spontaneous Gordon of Wilmington was issued a summons for Improper passing and Driving while her license was suspended.
