Early this morning (Friday, January 22, 2010) at approximately 1:15 a.m., Wilmington Police were called to the unit block of W. 30th Street in regards to a stabbing that had just occurred. The victim, a 26 year old Wilmington man, was walking on 30th Street with his girlfriend after leaving the food store on Market Street when a small black car pulled up next to them. The passenger of the car began to talk to the victim’s girlfriend in an inappropriate manner. The victim and the passenger got into an argument, ending with the suspect exiting the vehicle and stabbing the victim in his midsection. After the stabbing, the vehicle fled west bound on 30th Street out of sight. The victim was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was originally listed in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.
The suspect was described as a black male, 5’8”. wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and wearing tan Timberland boots.
The investigation is continuing.
