Mayor James M. Baker presents the
2010 Academic Scholarship Program

Mayor James M. Baker is currently accepting applications for his 2010 Academic Scholarship Program for graduating high school seniors and matriculating college students.

The scholarships are designed to assist Wilmington’s young people in achieving their post-secondary educational goals. Scholarships are awarded based upon academic achievement, leadership qualities and financial need.

Eligibility requirements are listed on the respective applications. Scholarship applications are due no later than April 15, 2010 by 5:00 p.m.

If you are a high school student, you must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for a scholarship:

  1. Applicant must be a resident of the City of Wilmington, Delaware and of the United States. Proof of residency is required.
  1. Applicant must be a high school senior preparing to graduate in the Spring of 2010.
  1. Applicant must show proof of acceptance into a four year accredited college or university.
  1. Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better. Transcripts are required.
  1. Applicant must have demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as a dedication to public and community service.

If you are a matriculating college student, you must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for a scholarship:

  1. Applicant must be a resident of the City of Wilmington, Delaware and of the United States. Proof of residency is required.
  1. Applicant must be a matriculating student in a full time bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university.
  1. Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or better. Transcripts are required.
  1. Applicant must have demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as a dedication to public and community service.
