Evening Mosquito Spraying Planned for Southbridge Community on Thursday, August 9
The aerial spraying is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The Delaware Mosquito Control Section is planning an aerial spraying in the Southbridge and South Wilmington areas of Wilmington later this week to reduce adult mosquito populations. Weather permitting, the aerial spraying will occur between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018. If the spraying is not completed on Thursday due to the weather, it will be attempted again on Friday, August 10.
Application of the insecticide Trumpet EC (active ingredient Naled) will be applied by plane in Southbridge as well as the East Seventh Street Peninsula, Eden Park, Cherry Island, the Veolia wastewater treatment plant and the Port of Wilmington. The insecticide, dose and application method will be identical to what occurred in the same area in the summer of 2017.
Although not required, persons with concerns about exposure to the spraying may remain indoors during the event, and for up to 20 minutes after the spraying is completed. Residents are encouraged to text SOUTHBRIDGE to 95577 to receive future spraying and community updates.
