Art Loop Wilmington, The First of the New Year, Happens Tomorrow, Friday, January 4

The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Out & About Magazine present Wilmington’s popular and FREE monthly art exhibition

Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki, City Cultural Affairs Director Tina Betz, and Jerry DuPhily of Out & About Magazine invite City residents and citizens around the region to Art Loop Wilmington which will be held at various locations tomorrow, Friday, January 4. The Art Loop, a partnership between the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Out & About, exhibits visual art that will be available for viewing FREE of charge each month throughout the year.

The Wilmington Art Loop is a self-guided exhibition of visual art displayed at galleries, studios, museums and alternative spaces in and around Wilmington. The FREE event draws local and regional art lovers to the Downtown District and greater Wilmington area on the first Friday of the month with the exception of Independence Day Weekend this year, when the Art Loop will take place on July 12.

Some venues offer opportunities to meet the featured artists while patrons enjoy refreshments, and, in some cases, live entertainment is scheduled. Out & About has teamed up with Breakthru Beverage to present complimentary beer, wine or spirit tastings at three Loop venues that rotate each month.

The Louis L. Redding Gallery presents an aesthetic upgrade after a one-year absence from the Art Loop, with featured works by Artist Timmy Graham, entitled “Introduction to Fourth Dimensionalism” at the City/County Building, (800 North French Street
Wilmington, DE 19801.) The Gallery will feature curator talks from The Delaware Contemporary’s, Katherine Page at 5:45 p.m. and will offer light cocktail refreshments.

Eight additional venues will be participating in Art Loop Wilmington beginning at 5 p.m. The offerings in January will include works by:

  • Joseph Repetti featuring some of his favorite musicians throughout history called “Music Icons” at the Christina Cultural Arts Center (705 North Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19801)
  • “Delaware: One State, Many Stories” which introduces the state’s history through a number of important topics at the Delaware History Museum, (504 North Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19801)
  • Lvon Yoder, featuring “Micro Orcim” a splatter abstract artist presenting a solo show focused on his smallest artwork at The Sold Firm (800-B North Tatnall Street, Wilmington, DE 1980)

For a complete list of participating venues and featured artists visit the Art Loop Wilmington’s Facebook and website – a hand-held guide to the Loop, organized by gallery location, artist or type of venue. The site is now more mobile friendly and features the monthly lineup at least two weeks prior to the start of each Art Loop.
