Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki, City Cultural Affairs Director Tina Betz, and Jerry DuPhily of Out & About Magazine invite City residents and citizens around the region to Art Loop Wilmington on Friday, March 1. The popular FREE art exhibition, now in its 31st year, is a partnership between the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Out & About.

In March, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, together with the Delaware Division of the Arts (DDoA), will present “Art Loop on French Street” with concurrent visual exhibits in the City-County Building’s Louis L. Redding Gallery and the neighboring Carvel State Office Building’s Mezzanine Gallery, located at 820 North French Street. The Mayor encourages art patrons to visit both the Redding and Mezzanine Galleries on French Street downtown this and every First Friday of the Art Loop. Metered parking on French Street is free after 5:00 p.m. on Art Loop Fridays.

“We’re very excited about the partnership between the Delaware Contemporary and the Louis L. Redding Gallery, launched in February,” said the Mayor. “This new partnership between the Mezzanine Gallery and the Louis L. Redding Gallery is designed to draw art lovers to both galleries each month.”

March’s Loop at the Redding Gallery will mark the final month of artist Timmy Graham’s exhibition of large-scale, Impressionist-inspired works from his “Fourth Dimensionalism” series.  Graham’s work will be complemented on March 1 by dance performances by Dance 4 Life at 6:00 and 6:40 p.m., along with a reception of light refreshments. Inspired by the theory of relativity, Graham fuses math, science and art in his massive oil paintings; color relates to measured distances on the electromagnetic spectrum as every brushstroke becomes an individual plane.

Across Freedom Plaza from the Redding Gallery, the Carvel State Office Building’s Mezzanine Gallery will feature sculpture by Olga Nielson. The Mezzanine Gallery regularly presents solo exhibitions of work by Delaware artists during each month’s Art Loop, focusing on a full range of disciplines including painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, folk and media arts. Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the FREE Art Loop Shuttles, which leave the parking lot of The Delaware Contemporary, located at 200 South Madison Street, at 5:45 p.m. The shuttles provide round-trip transportation to either Downtown Art Loop venues or locations in Trolley Square and venues north of Downtown, and are a convenient way to meet other art lovers. Reservations are not required.

The Wilmington Art Loop is a self-guided exhibition of visual art displayed at galleries, studios, museums and alternative spaces in and around Wilmington. The FREE event draws local and regional art lovers to the Downtown District and greater Wilmington area on the first Friday of the month with the exception of Independence Day Weekend in July, when the Art Loop will take place on July 12. Many venues offer opportunities to meet the featured artists while patrons enjoy refreshments, and, in some cases, live entertainment is scheduled. Out & About has teamed up with Breakthru Beverage to present complimentary beer, wine or spirit tastings at three Loop venues that rotate each month.

Art Loop Wilmington’s website – a hand-held guide to the Loop that is easily navigable by gallery location, artist or type of venue – is mobile friendly and features the monthly lineup at least two weeks prior to the start of each Art Loop. The site can be accessed at  People can also join the conversation on social media by using #ArtLoopWilm or visit the Facebook Page: The April Art Loop will take place on Friday, April 5.
