The Department of Public Works’ Urban Forestry Division again teams with Parks and Recreation to address oversized limbstree limb removal 2019

Mayor Mike Purzycki, Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams and Director of Parks and Recreation Kevin Kelley announced today that, with the assistance of Wilmington’s Urban Forester, Herb White, Wilmington will continue the Mayor’s Beautiful City initiative with a special tree limb collection event to be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

“Coming on the heels of a record-setting Community Cleanup Day last month, this is one more opportunity for citizens to work together to keep our City safe and clean,” said Mayor Purzycki. “I strongly encourage residents who have yard waste, limbs and debris from recent storms to take advantage of this one-day special event.”

On Saturday, the Departments of Public Works and Parks and Recreation will team up to collect tree limbs that are too large to be picked up during the City’s regular yard waste collection service. Residents should place larger limbs and tree debris at the curb no later than 8 a.m. on Saturday for collection by the City. Tree sections eligible for collection are those that are not longer than 8 feet or larger than 4 inches in diameter. Tree limbs will NOT be collected from rear alleyways.

Citizens MUST contact Wilmington’s Public Works Call Center at (302) 576-3878 to register for Saturday’s tree limb collection event.
If you have any questions and/or concerns with regard to a street tree, please contact the Urban Forest Administrator, Herb White, at or by phone at (302) 576-2582.
