Mayor Purzycki and A Taste of Your Town Invite Citizens to Attend Fourth Annual Delaware Taco Festival on Saturday, August 17
Proceeds from the event will benefit The Trauma Survivors Foundation
Mayor Mike Purzycki and Robert Brazas of A Taste of Your Town invite citizens to attend the fourth annual Delaware Taco Festival on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at its new location, Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park along the Christina River. VIP admission begins at Noon. The popular food festival will bring together more than 25 of the area’s best restaurants and food purveyors to dish out a wide variety of tacos and specialty items, all in support of non-profit The Trauma Survivors Foundation.
“The Delaware Taco Festival is a great way to start to wind down Wilmington’s busy summer festival season,” said Mayor Purzycki. “There’s no doubt that Wilmingtonians love their tacos, and this year will see even more varieties than ever before. So I encourage everyone who can to stop by the Riverfront on Saturday for a terrific afternoon of food, music, activities and family fun.”

This year’s festival will feature a Tequila expo area for light tastings and individual purchases, a Margarita bar with traditional cocktails, and traditional bars and beverage stations serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. While it is an all-ages event, only those 21 years of age and older are permitted to consume alcohol in Delaware. Family-friendly programming includes Lucha Libre wrestling, hot pepper and taco-eating contests, a VIP misted party tent, and a kids fun zone featuring a mix of activities and attractions. Traditional rock/pop bands, authentic mariachi bands, dance troupe DJ’s and other musical acts round out the day’s entertainment.
All tacos and related items will work on a voucher system; vouchers can be purchased at various ticket stations throughout the event and then exchanged at all participating vendors. All beverage sellers, as well as additional food purveyors (ice cream, cakes, desserts, candies, etc.), will accept cash. Credit card machines will be very limited, though there will be some ATMs on site.
Proceeds from the Delaware Taco Festival will benefit the Delaware-based national non-profit The Trauma Survivors Foundation, founded in 2013 by longtime Delawarean and former volunteer Fire Fighter/EMT Dennis Carradin following his crisis response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in December 2012. The Trauma Survivors Foundation works with and provides education to First Responders, Military and others who have been in traumatic incidents such as shootings and natural disasters. With a national network consisting of trauma trained and licensed clinicians, as well as crisis interventionists from the First Responder Communities, the Foundation's goal is to improve the lives of children and families who have experienced a traumatic event and help them learn to live life again.
