Approximately 35 customers in a three-block area are affected  as emergency repairs are made

News from Mayor Mike Purzycki

M.E. Simpson Co., Inc., a contractor for Wilmington’s Department of Public Works, is currently on the scene of a leaking fire hydrant in the vicinity of West 4th and North Clayton streets in Wilmington.  The contractor is providing an emergency shutdown to allow Brandywine Construction Company, Inc. (BCCI), another Public Works contractor, to replace the leaking hydrant and guard valve on the corner of West 4th Street and North Clayton Street.

The shutdown will encompass three blocks: two blocks of West 4th Street from North Clayton Street to North Rodney Street, and one block of North Rodney Street from West 4th Street to West 5th Street. (See map below.) Approximately 35 customers will be affected.

The Department of Public Works expects the repairs to be completed by the end of the day. Motor vehicle traffic along 4th Street will be unaffected by the closure.
