Traffic Restrictions for 41st Annual Thanksgiving Morning MS Run
Motorists will experience traffic restrictions in Wilmington on Thanksgiving morning as the 41st Annual Thanksgiving Day MS Runs and Walk are held throughout the morning. The event, to be held rain or shine, includes 10K and 5K runs, a 5K non-competitive walk, and a kiddie fun run led by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
Run and Walk participants and observers will gather initially at the PNC Bank Center, 222 Delaware Avenue, for the traditional 10K run, which is scheduled to begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. The 5K run starts at 10:30 a.m. The Kiddie Fun Run begins at 10:00 a.m. and the 5K Non-Competitive Walk begins at 10:35 a.m. Registration for all events begins at 8:00 a.m.
Streets affected include 9th and Orange Streets, 10th and Orange Streets and 10th and Tatnall Streets beginning at 7:00 a.m. These streets are scheduled to reopen at the conclusion of the run around noon. Motorists can also expect delays in the area of King Street and Walnut Street, both of which will be closed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and Noon. Other streets to be closed during the morning are South Park Drive from Market Street to Lovering Avenue, and Riddle Avenue. The Van Buren Street Bridge will be open with traffic controlled by a police officer. The southbound lanes of the Market Street Bridge will be closed, and traffic will be detoured to 18th Street. Along Kentmere Parkway, the westbound roadway will be closed to traffic, as will Red Oak Road between Greenhill Avenue and Rockford Road.
