Delaware Solid Waste Authority to Host Annual Collection Event

Event hosted in partnership with the City of Wilmington’s Beautiful City Campaign

WILMINGTON – The Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) has announced their annual city collection event for Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Riverfront near Frawley Stadium.

In partnership with the City of Wilmington’s Beautiful City Campaign, which promotes a clean and litter-free city, this event provides residents with an opportunity to safely dispose of household hazardous waste, electronic goods, and shred sensitive documents.

Attendees are limited to two boxes per person for shredding. Lists of acceptable items can be found below:

Household Items:

  • Full aerosol cans

  • Bleach

  • Nail polish and polish remover

  • Perfume

  • Disinfectants

  • Drain cleaners

  • Floor wax

  • Mercury thermometers

  • Moth balls

  • Oven cleaners

  • Spot removers

  • Toilet cleaner

  • Fluorescent bulbs

  • Pool chemicals

  • Garden items: fungicides, herbicides

Workshop Items:

  • Oil-based paint

  • Small compressed gas tanks

  • Solvents

  • Stains/varnishes

  • Paint strippers and thinners

  • Wood preservatives

Automotive:

  • Used mixed fuels

  • Antifreeze

  • Auto batteries

  • Degreasers

  • Waste gasoline/kerosene

Electronics:

  • Televisions

  • Printers

  • Copiers/scanners

  • Fax machines

  • Laptops, tablets

  • iPods/MP3 players

  • PC speakers

  • Keyboards

  • VCR/DVD/CD players

  • Modems

  • Hard drives

  • Cell phones

  • Telephones

  • Computer monitors

  • Microwave ovens

  • Vacuum cleaners

  • Video game systems

Medical:

  • Used sharps

Explosives:

  • Ammunition

  • Gunpowder

  • Fireworks

The following list of items will NOT be accepted:

  • Uknown substances

  • Containers with less than 1” of material

  • Radioactive waste

  • Prescription medication

  • Asbestos

  • Dehumidifiers

  • Freezers

  • Refrigerators

  • Air conditioners
