WILMINGTON - Budget realities always challenge us to be both principled and clear-sighted. We have to control our own spending, as we work to meet the needs of all our residents. The FY 2027 budget strikes that balance. We're limiting ongoing growth and responsibly using reserves for critical one-time needs, including over $12 million for affordable housing. We're enhancing our parks and community spaces, strengthening our public safety approach, helping literacy programming reach our students, and driving the next generation of economic development projects in the city. I'd like to thank Wilmington City Council for voting in favor this budget. I look forward to working together as we turn our attention to putting these investments into action.
