Play Streets Wilmington - July 7, 2022 at Harlan Elementary School

The July 7 Play Streets Wilmington event was a success! Around 80 people joined us at the Harlan School including community members, volunteers, and staff. The activities featured were basketball with Delaware Blue Coats, golf with First Tee of Delaware, and skateboarding with Kinetic Skateboarding. Shout out to the Blue Coats for bringing along books for the kids as well! We also brought bikes, cornhole, hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, double dutch and jump ropes. We really appreciated the support we received from the Mandela Fellows, and Urban Acres. DJ Tim Dogg brought great music and energy to the event! We would also like to thank Wilmington PD for engaging with the community at the event. We had media coverage from FOX29 News and WITN22 News who informed their audiences that we will be traveling throughout the districts this summer.

Some event highlights:

* We gave out six medals to some of the amazing kids who came out to the event.
* A six-year-old resident took home a free skateboard from Kinetic Skateboarding, he was a natural by the end of the event.
* The kids loved the free t-shirts from Play Streets and Delaware Blue Coats.
