Play Streets Wilmington - August 4, 2022 at 100-200 blocks of Stroud Street

Our Play Streets event on August 4th at the 100-200 block of Stroud St. was a success! Over 45 community members joined us despite the heat. The activities featured were basketball, an inflatable game with Delaware Blue Coats, golf with First Tee of Delaware, hula hoops, jump ropes, and sidewalk chalk. Top Shelf Entertainment and DJ Cecil Bond brought amazing music to the event. The Delaware Blue Coats team brought the energy to our special event! They organized basketball drills and skills competition for the youth and teens present. Thank you to Ken Livingston, Director of the Get Delaware Reading program at United Way of Delaware, for giving out free books to the kids. We would also like to thank the officer who came out from the K-9 unit of WPD, we appreciate the support.

We want to give a special shout out to Councilwoman Yolanda McCoy for organizing the food truck for the event, and for inviting community members to join us. We also want to send a huge thank you to Zac’s Burger Bus for bringing great food and amazing energy to the event.

We would also like to thank the Youth & Families Division of the Parks & Recreation Department for bringing grab and go meals to our Play Streets events.

Event highlights:

* A few community youth that participated in the Blue Coats special event were selected to attend the Blue Coats Mini Camp at the end of August.
* Everyone enjoyed the food from Zac’s Burger Bus and the water ice from the Parks & Recreation Department.
* Tender Care Learning Academy let us use their parking lot so we had more room for community members to hang out and for the kids to play. Thank you for supporting Play Streets!
