Play Streets Wilmington - August 11, 2022 at Stapler Park

Our final Play Streets event of the summer was held on August 11th at Stapler Park, with our Wilmington City Cinema event taking place afterward. The major activities featured were basketball, an inflatable game with the Delaware Blue Coats, and skateboarding with Kinetic Skateboarding. Cornhole, jump ropes, and hula hoops were also popular with the kids. Shout out to Top Shelf Entertainment and DJ Cecil Bond for bringing fun music and line dances to the block. Our special event was a corn hole tournament, where the winning team received medals. Shout out to Ken Livingston, Director of the Get Delaware Reading program at United Way of Delaware, for giving out free books to the kids. Thank you to Brandywine Counseling, Christiana Care, and Urban Acres for their support.

We want to give a huge thank you to Recreation Division Superintendent Rashid Mustafa for leading the Play Streets program this summer.

We would also like to thank the Youth and Families Division of the Parks and Recreation department for bringing grab-and-go meals to our Play Streets events.

Event highlights:

* Kids received Play Streets medals for showing off their skills in basketball, hula hooping, and dancing.
* Everyone enjoyed water ice to beat the heat.
* The cornhole tournament got pretty competitive, and the winning team took home Play Streets medals.
