SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

The Green Jobs Program is a 6-week employment program for city residents that provides participants with hands-on outdoor environmental work, career exploration, exposure to environmental issues, and a mentoring component. Participants who are 14 - 21 years old will work 25 hours per week and earn minimum wage.

To apply for a position in the Green Jobs Program,

  1. Download and complete the City of Wilmington Employment Application.
  2. Email the completed application to: greenjobssyep@WilmingtonDE.gov
  3. Printed applications are also available.

Program Timeline

  • Application deadline extended to May 17
  • Internship Selection - May
  • Program Dates - July 5 through August 11

Activities May Include

  • Surveying mussels in the Brandywine Creek
  • Planting gardens
  • Sprucing up parks
  • Canoeing
  • Removing invasive plants
  • Searching for aquatic life called “macroinvertebrates”
  • Fishing
