The City’s Water Meter Replacement Program is in full swing, and in about two years the Department of Public Works will have replaced every water meter in the City’s water service district with new, state-of-the-art Badger meters to ensure accurate billing for all of our customers.
If you have not yet been contacted about having your water meter replaced, you will be soon. You will receive a letter in the mail asking you to contact Itron to make an appointment to have your water meter upgraded. Itron has been contracted by the City to perform the meter upgrades and are working with a company called Grid One to complete the installations. All City contractors have been vetted and each and every worker who visits your home will be wearing a uniform and will have a City-issued photo ID badge displayed. In addition to the letter, you may find a door hanger on your front door prompting you to call Itron customer service to schedule an appointment. As Itron and Grid One visit homes to upgrade meters, they are dropping these door hangers to ensure that we are able to upgrade water meters as quickly and efficiently as possible. We understand that your time is valuable and as such, contractors will work with you to schedule appointments in the evening or on Saturdays as-needed. Please note that per City Code Section 45-86, failure to comply with our request to replace your meter may result in an interruption of your water service.
