Community Cleanup Day is an annual event to encourage beautifying the city.

Let's work together to #CleanWilmington365

Reinforcing the fact that Wilmington’s greatest asset is its neighborhoods, Mayor Michael S. Purzycki and the City of Wilmington invite citizens and friends of Wilmington to participate in the 7th Annual Wilmington Community Cleanup Day.

Every community has areas—public parks, vacant lots, streets and sidewalks—that are neglected, vandalized, or just plain run down. You can help clean up those places by getting involved in a community cleanup project. By playing your part in cleaning up your community, you will help make it more attractive to residents— and less attractive to criminals.

Wilmington Community Cleanup Day will take place in neighborhoods throughout the city on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

There are three ways you can participate:

  1. Register as a group.
Are you a member of a local civic association, church, or other community organization? Plan a cleanup targeting a neighborhood park, vacant lot, or city street.
  2. Register as an individual.
We will connect you with a group already working in your community.
  3. Spread the word!
Download the event flyer here to share with friends and neighbors.

Imagine the impact if everyone across the city picked up the litter in front of their house. Let’s work together to keep Wilmington clean. Use the hashtag #CleanWilmington365 and share your before and after photos on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

All citizens who participate in a registered project are invited to a community gathering beginning at 11:00 a.m.on May 6 at Peter Spencer Plaza (8th & French Streets across from the Louis L. Redding City/County Building) to celebrate the event’s collective successes.

Community Cleanup Day 2017 is made possible by the City of Wilmington, The Kenny Family Foundation, the official participant barbecue sponsor, and The Home Depot, the official supplies sponsor.
