Reinforcing the fact that Wilmington’s greatest asset is its neighborhoods, Mayor Michael S. Purzycki and the City of Wilmington invite citizens and friends of Wilmington to participate in the 8th Annual Wilmington Community Cleanup Day.
Every community has areas—public parks, vacant lots, streets and sidewalks—that are neglected, vandalized, or just plain run down. You can help clean up those places by getting involved in a community cleanup project. By playing your part in cleaning up your community, you will help make it more attractive to residents— and less attractive to criminals.
Wilmington Community Cleanup Day will take place in neighborhoods throughout the city on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
There are three ways you can participate:
- Register as a group.
Are you a member of a local civic association, church, or other community organization? Plan a cleanup targeting a neighborhood park, vacant lot, or city street.
- Register as an individual.
We will connect you with a group already working in your community.
- Spread the word!

Imagine the impact if everyone across the city picked up the litter in front of their house. Let’s work together to keep Wilmington clean. Use the hashtag #BeautifulCity and share your before and after photos on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
