The City of Wilmington collects real Christmas trees following the holiday season.

The Department of Public Works offers the following ways to recycle your live Christmas trees.

TreeCycle

Saturday, January 4, 2020
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Delaware Center for Horticulture, 1810 N. Dupont Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19086

Event sponsored by the Department of Public Works

Join the Delaware Center for Horticulture and Wilmington’s Urban Forestry crew for this FREE family-friendly tree shredding event! Keep your trees out of the landfill, and take home a bag of fresh wood chips for your garden. The City of Wilmington’s Urban Forestry team will be on hand to chip trees in a commercial chipper/grinder and hand participants a bag of mulch. Warm up next to our fire pit in DCH’s courtyard and enjoy hot apple cider and s’mores while you wait. The first 50 event participants will receive custom TreeCycle neck warmers and tree swag.

Trees can be dropped off in the DCH parking lot starting December 30. For equipment and operator safety, any ropes, wires, stands, or metal objects should be remove from the tree. The service is free of charge; donations benefit DCH’s community forestry efforts.

For more information about his event, contact Samuel Seo, DCH Community Forester, at (302) 658-6262, ext. 112.
